About 5 Seconds of Summer
5 Seconds of Summer, also known as 5SOS, is an Australian pop rock band from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, formed in late 2011. The group consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Luke Hemmings, lead guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and drummer Ashton Irwin. The band first gained international recognition after posting popular song covers on YouTube, which caught the attention of One Direction, who invited them to open for their 2013 "Take Me Home Tour." This collaboration helped to significantly increase their global visibility.
Since their debut, 5SOS has sold millions of albums and concert tickets worldwide, and have accumulated billions of streams. They hold a notable achievement as the only Australian act to have their first three full-length albums debut at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. The band's music has evolved from a pop-punk-influenced sound to a more diverse blend of pop and rock, contributing to their enduring presence in the music industry.
