Mali-Koa Hood, often credited as Mali-Koa, is an Australian singer-songwriter. She is the older sister of 5 Seconds of Summer member Calum Hood.
Career[]
In April 2012, at the age of 20, Hood competed in the first season of The Voice Australia, a singing competition series, in April 2012. She performed "American Boy" for her blind audition and a duet rendition of "What's Up?" before being eliminated in the show's battle rounds.
Hood released her debut solo song and promotional single, "Honest," on December 22, 2017. The song received over 2 million streams. Hood stated in March 2018 that she had signed a record deal with Island Records UK and that she will be releasing an album.
Hood was featured in a remix of JP Cooper's song "All This Love" on July 26, 2018. The song was played on national radio and then appeared in the fifth season of the British reality show Love Island. As of July 2020, the official music video for the song had gotten over 15 million views on YouTube and over 9 million Spotify streams.
On December 7, 2018, Hood released her first single, "Pretend" via Island Records. Hood performed at The Great Escape festival in London in May 2019. Hood released a song titled "Sorry" on May 31, 2019, with the accompanying music video following on June 12. The official music video for the song has received 2.5 million views on YouTube.
Hood performed at the Global APRA Music Awards in London in March 2020. Hood released "Dancer" on April 22, 2020, the first single from her upcoming album, which will be released later that year. The accompanying music video for the song was released on the same day. Hood released the album's second single, "Somethings," on June 4, 2020, with the song premiering on Atwood Magazine. On July 9, 2020. "Me Before You," Hood's third single from the album, was released. The music video for the song was released on July 29, 2020. In August 2020, she released a cover of Robin S's "Show Me Love," and in February 2021, she released a cover of Australian singer John Farnham's "You're the Voice."
Hood released her debut album, "Hunger" on November 20, 2020 Hood has written songs for other artists, including G-Eazy and Sigma.
