Background and release[]

  • Bassist Calum Hood made a statement about the song, saying, "We wanted to make the chorus kind of a choose-your-own-adventure, where some words are left out and then accentuated by these big stabs of synth. It lets everyone come up with their own interpretation, and fill in whatever they think those missing lyrics might be."
  • The music video was released on 16 April 2020.
  • The music video was directed by Andy DeLuca.

Music video[]

  • A lyric video for Wildflower was released on 25 March 2020, featuring multiple flowers moving with the lyrics using stopmotion. This video was actually created in Michael's backyard, by one of his close friends Andy Deluca. It took almost all day to finish the official video.
  • The official music video was released on 16 April 2020, using a green screen and lots of editing, due to the fact that the original plan for the music video was cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
